FBI Approved Channeler

FBI Approved Channeler

TRP Associates, LLC offers a comprehensive, managed service for fingerprint background checks and is recognized by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as an approved FBI Channeling Agency. TRP Associates supports the FBI in expediting Criminal History Record Information (CHRI). TRP Associates has met a strict set of Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance standards, authorizing our agency to submit fingerprints directly to the FBI for the processing of CHRI for non-criminal justice purposes.

Qualifying agencies are now permitted to utilize an FBI Channeler to perform electronic fingerprint history checks of the IAFIS database, and receive results in less than 24 hours. We can submit both DOCE and NFUF fingerprint transactions electronically to the FBI to perform a CHRI for customers who have authorized access under federal statutes.

Under DO 556-73, an individual may obtain a copy of his/her FBI criminal history summary for the following reasons:

  • To make sure your FBI record is complete, accurate and up-to-date
  • To review or to request a correction or update
  • To challenge information on your record
  • Adopting a child from a foreign country
  • To satisfy a requirement to live in a foreign country
  • To satisfy a requirement to travel to a foreign country
  • Other court related matters

Important Information

An FBI-approved Channeler may only process requests for a U.S. person (an individual who is a citizen of the U.S. or a lawful permanent resident of the U.S.). A lawful permanent resident is any person not a citizen of the U.S. who is residing in the U.S. under legally recognized and lawfully recorded permanent residence as an immigrant (also known “Permanent Resident Alien,” “Resident Alien Permit Holder,” and “Green Card Holder”).

An FBI-approved Channeler cannot process a request for employment and/or licensing purposes within the United States. This type of request should be coordinated with the appropriate state identification bureau (or state/local police) for the correct procedures.
